What’s the Opportunity?

Becoming a Lead Quality Assurance Specialist makes you a critical part of the Empire Flippers team. You will ensure that our products, applications, and systems work correctly, and learn skills that will last you a lifetime in the online business world.

This is a location independent position, allowing you to live wherever you’d like while working directly alongside the QA Supervisor and the Engineering team, assessing and analyzing software quality on the EF platform through manual and automated testing.

This is a full-time position where we’ll teach you the ins and outs of the online business brokerage industry, coming from years of experience.

What’s the Lead Quality Assurance Specialist Position Like?

The Lead Quality Assurance Specialist works directly with the QA Supervisor and engineering team, developing and performing quality control tests on the EF platform. The person in this role has solid QA experience in identifying root causes of problems and is able to recommend and/or implement corrective measures and debugging procedures to ensure that our platform and systems work correctly.

Here’s a look at some of the tasks and processes you’ll be responsible for:

  • Draft proposals for testing programs and operating procedures; outline specific criteria and conditions to be applied
  • Assist in leading team in executing test plans on pre-release platform features by verifying functionality, data content, performance, usability and compatibility
  • Develop systems to gather data during testing at the quality control stage of processes
  • Study data gathered during testing and evaluate the validity of the results to ensure they meet organizations and customers quality and product integrity requirements
  • Review and analyze bug data to identify trends in feature quality
  • Diagnose issues, report defects, and propose regression tests to discover reoccurrences
  • Work with team to triage and prioritize issues for resolution
  • Develop ongoing quality control testing procedures to be incorporated into the regular production process
  • Oversee and train team on best practices to troubleshoot errors and issues

What Skills Are Needed?

Be a good fit. We believe in hiring people that are a good fit for us culturally (see the “Empire Flippers Why” in our career section to see what we mean … if you haven’t already discovered it).

Have credible 2+ years of QA experience. This is of utmost importance to us. We would love for you to know more about software testing than we do – and then show us how to do it!  It is a requirement that we hire a candidate with proven experience as a Quality Assurance Tester.

You need to have immaculate attention to detail. We need you to have eyes like a hawk and develop systems and solutions whenever quality and product integrity don’t quite look or feel right, as you will oversee and ensure that the debugging process is successful. Excellent written & spoken English comprehension is a must.

Be a good communicator. It sounds very cliché, but you’ll be brainstorming with team members in other departments, troubleshooting and investigating issues reported by staff and customers and performing tests on multiple devices/operating systems. A large part of this role requires the ability to effectively communicate and provide explanations both to customers and team members.

A self-starter. We need to see some evidence that you’re passionate about quality assurance! You won’t have eyes looking over your shoulder on a day to day basis, you’ll be working in almost full autonomy. We’ll need to trust you to deliver the goods. In a nutshell: you must be highly motivated, goal-driven and reliable.

Aside from the above required skills, the following abilities/experience would be a bonus:

  • Experience in project management
  • Analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Quick-learner, dependable, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Google Suite, Slack, Skype and Zoom

What’s the Lifestyle Like?

Our company culture is built on the idea of travel, remote work, and living life on your terms.

We’re not looking to put you in a cubicle and waste your time in traffic. You’ll be working hard, playing hard, and learning all about our company and what we stand for during this time.

Apart from meeting us in person every now and then, you’re free to work and live anywhere you’d like and join the new class of digital nomads – we’re homeless but have a passport, credit card, and a laptop.

You’ll become friends with people who will be able to give you massive insights into how digital businesses work, how they scale, and, of course, how to invest in them or sell them.

Love It. What’s the Catch?

This isn’t a gap year experience. This is not a temporary contract.

If you’re applying just because you want something to fund your travels before you start seeking out a “serious” job, then you probably shouldn’t apply.

We’re looking for career-minded people who share our vision and see where we’re going. We want you to be part of that vision and help us get there over the long haul.

And while we play hard and sometimes really do work next to the pool all day, we work even harder. Sometimes you will be putting in a 10-12 hour day as business demands arise. You’ll be working weird hours to match other team members time zones, and you’ll sometimes have to face some critical feedback.

You will be expected to perform to our expectations and really help us grow our business to the next level. We’re counting on you.

If you can see yourself growing into a profitable and meaningful career with us and love what we do, we want you to be part of our team.

Details to Keep in Mind

When you first start off you will work closely in training with our UI/UX Designer, who heads up our Quality Assurance team. During this period, your role will be probationary and your training and performance will be evaluated.

You can expect to be making USD $1500 a month in salary. This entry level salary is enough to live a good-quality life (within reason) in Southeast Asia — or most of the world for that matter.

We’re going to start you off slow. You’ll first learn about our company and what each department does; then you will be given some low-level tasks to ease you into the position. Over time, your skills will grow and you’ll be making a lot of decisions on your own. However, you will always have our support and knowledge to lean on. We aren’t going to throw you to the wolves — you’ll be part of a high-functioning team that is here to help wherever we can.

Our UI/UX Designer, HR Coordinator, and VP of Engineering will be reviewing every application. If we think you’re a good fit, we will reach out to you to do a video call interview. After the first interviews are done, our final candidates will be brought back for a final second interview before we make our decision.

*US resident requirements: we will accept candidates residing in Texas, Colorado, or Florida, as we are registered for payroll in these states. Otherwise, US candidates should plan to live abroad or have plans to relocate to Texas, Colorado or Florida.

We have a no side project policy: we do not allow any ownership, association, or affiliations with online businesses or websites. If you are the owner of an online business, then you will be expected to either sell the business before you join us or sunset it upon accepting a job offer from us. If you are not comfortable with this, please do not apply.

A background check is required.

How Do I Apply?

Here is the sequence of events we use when hiring our Lead Quality Assurance Specialist:

  • You record a YouTube video* explaining who you are and why you’re a good fit for the position, fill out an application, and submit it ASAP.
  • The deadline is 5 October 2020.
  • We review submissions and schedule interviews in mid-October.
  • The chosen candidate will begin November 2, 2020.

*YouTube Video Requirements:

We will only accept submissions that include a YouTube URL. Please leave the video “unlisted” in preferences and share the link with us. The quality of the video doesn’t matter, and there are no bonus points for editing. We just want (up to) three minutes of you explaining (based on your previous experience) why this Lead Quality Assurance Specialist position is an excellent fit for you and us.

If you’re thinking about applying but are worried you might not have enough (insert excuse here) — don’t worry. If you want to build something more than just a 9-to-5 job, then click the “apply” button below.

We’re sorry, but this position is closed and we are no longer accepting applications.
